Week 13

Hi, are you well?

I am good, thanks for asking, so today my fligth was cancelled, what can I do?Not much...well...I bought a new ticket for the 4th of march instead, on the way back from the airport, the bus that I was on had a car crash...so more waiting...not a very good morning at all...but now is time to do more work and less complaining haha...

Last week I was working on my so call "artbook" I wanted to add all my draws on a book, since I started this project I have done lots of drawing, so I thought that instead of giving them my sketchpad, I could give them an artbook with all of it plus the research, this way it would look more appealing to the eye, so far I am quite happy with the progress, I showed Alison the cover for the artbook, she liked it, also I showed her the other pages that I have done, she suggested to change the colour of the background as she mentioned that it looks like if it was drawn by Michellangelo, she suggested to stay with the grey colours, like the base, and so I did it, now it looks much better.

This is the final stage, the grey colour really gives a better colour to the robot.

So as you can see I have done some work, I have also model some more stuff around the base, as I am adding small things to make it look better. 


I am very happy with the progress, so far I am soooo happy, I am doing well so I can not complain.

Week 12

I have decided that I am going to add renders to this week blog.

This is a render of my helicopter.

I think that this is my final render for the tank, it looks good , I really like it.

I am not 100% sure whether I will use this colour or not, most of the planes are grey, but I like to keep all the vehicles the same style, so I may end up changing the grey for brown, and keep all of them the same colour.

I am very happy with how this is looking, I have to talk with Gregory about what he think of the blood, I know it doesnt look real, but is done in photoshop, other than that I think that is looking quite good, as I am aiming for something like that. I decided to add a gun when the soldier see the blood, this way it will add something else to the scene.

This is where everything will start, the scene will start blurry and then he will open the door and the first thing that the viewer will see is this, after that there is a long hall, which is the one above, and then the ending of the hall, he will go to the left door and go down the stairs, the stairs lead to the main hangar which is below.

From then on he will run towards the armory to get a machine gun.

week 11

I need to come up with a good way to add all my artwork to my report, perhaps turn it into some kind of artwork book, I have been looking at some good artbooks, one that I like the style is Final Fantasy 7 reunion files, http://www.ffrepublic.com/pics/10-sqjhfiuiae.jpg I think that adding an artbook to my report would make everything so much more interesting plus I could get some extra marks, I have to scan everything that I have drawn, then open my report, and mix it together, I have to do it in a smart way so whoever is reading it can undestand what is going on, not just a bunch of pictures and text, I will think about it when I have more time.

This is a render from what the base is starting to look at, is not a final render, but I think that I will keep it very similar, I have to add the helicopters and the planes.

I have been thinking that I did one model that I may not use, I like it, but I don't think that it will work on the base.

The one that I am not sure if I will add it to the base is the one on the left, the reason I made it is so it could be some kind of portable command center, but then when I have it all together on the base, it seems out of place, instead I transformed it with wheels and much smaller, so it looks much more similar than the style of my other vehicles.

Week 10

The last few weeks I have been doing a lot of 3d, I have textured the helicopter, the tank, the plane, and most of the base, I have already started compositing all together, I have done some renders to see how everything comes together, so far I like it, I will upload renders and links to videos so everyone can see the progress on the project, so far I am very happy with the outcome that I have achieve so far.

Last week I was talking with Alison and she mentioned that some people lay back after christmas, I showed her all the work I have done since christmas, I have been working hard, watching movies to get new ideas, and see how the 1st person reacts to movements, I watched Doom a movie that came out in 2005, the reason that I wanted to watch this movie is that at the end, there is a 1st person shooter scene that is very good for me to reference from it as its very similar style that I want to achieve.

I have not written much in the last few weeks on the blog, I have been doing work, I wrote some stuff on my notpad.

9th week

8th Week

So I have been researching for a few days the helicopter and the plane research, instead of calling it helicopter and plane, I have decided to focus more on details of each aircraft, for the plane research one of the main things on the design is that it will be able to take off vertically, like a Harrier, or the new F-35 Lighting II, I need to research the STOVL system, that is what makes the plane take off vertically, STOVL means Short Take Off and Vertical Landing, so far i have found plenty of information, all the information I have found is on websites, I wanted to find a book, but I could not find a book on STOVL system, but the websites are giving me enough information, I have written enough information to give a perfect  idea of what STOVL stands for, I have to show Alison and she will give me her thoughts, whether is well written or whether I have to change anything.
I have also started working on the research for helicopters, and as with planes, I have decided to focus on one thing, same thing happens with the helicopters, the first flight of the famous Apache was in 1975, 35 years have passed and the helicopters have not change in design, they still look similar to the Apache, even one of the newest one such as the Tigre resembles to the Apache, obviously the technology is better, but other than that the design of the plane still looks  the same, I decided that I want to work on the engines, make the helicopter faster, the Apache's top speed is 293 km/h, the Tigre's top speed is 290 km/h, so in 30 years it seems like helicopters have not advance speed wise, so I will research the turboprop engines, I will find out all that I can about them, then add them to my design, other than that I will keep my design similar to the Apache/Tigre's as since I was a kid I love the Apache and when the Tigre came out I was blown away.

Week 8.

7th Week

So this is week 7 and so far I have only done research for the tank, I have not done more as I did not know the right way, now I know so next week I will start the airplane research, and maybe the helicopter research aswell, beside research I have been working on storyboards and some art work, I find that is a good idea to draw whatever I can think when I want to do a project, even before research, when I knew what I wanted to do, I started drawing so art, planes, helicopters, storyboards, this way my imagination would grow bigger once I had the research and I knew what I exactly want to do, now I do, as I meantioned last week I know where I want to go with the tank, now I need to start thinking about the plane, what do I want in the plane? Do I want it to look like star wars? that answer is no, I have read that the new F-35 Lighting II is meant to be operating until 2040, this will be the primary fighter, so this means that they can already tell that the aerodynamics of airplanes is not going to make a drastic change, the only airplane that looks very different design wise is the F-117, all the other airplanes are usually smooth shaped, so since I read this article, I will keep the design of my plane simple but nice.

Next week is when I will start researching the plane and the helicopter.
